Quality Control: Instant Laser Precision & Inspection for Defect Detection and Process Optimization
Virtek introduces integrated scanning technology to its IRIS platform.
Witness Virtek’s newest inspection capabilities and smart technology in action at JEC World, March 4-6, Hall 5 Booth K14
WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada (March 4th, 2025) – Virtek Vision International Inc., a business of AMETEK, Inc and technology supplier to many of the world’s top-tier aerospace, automotive and composite manufacturers, will demonstrate newly integrated scan and project technology, to its IRIS platform, marking the first of many offerings to customers from the most recent acquisition with Creaform.
Virtek extends its latest IRIS 3D platform with integration with Creaform's 3D scanning technology. Manufacturers can seamlessly inspect parts inline or stationary, during the fabrication process. This advanced integration simplifies digitizing any part being built, analyzing it by comparing the as-built part to the design based on CAD modeling, and clearly highlighting any discrepancies or defects and adjusting assembly positions to the deformed geometry of the part. Using precise laser projection, the system directs the assembly technician to the area of concern for immediate and efficient resolution or guides them to the adjusted assembly positions.
“The Scan & Project module not only delivers on quality and precision, plus saves valuable time in the production process,” said Darian Butt, Director, Product Management, Virtek. With the rapid creation of complex designs and the discovery of defects and deviations, it potentially reduces production costs and enhances overall efficiency. These combined benefits establish it as a pivotal tool for industries striving for top-notch product quality, streamlined operations, and cost-effectiveness,” Butt continued.
For Creaform, the Laser Projection Add-on is an extension to the latest release of Creaform Metrology Suite's Inspection module and extends its capabilities enabling powerful and unique benefits that address expensive part rework and large part assembly challenges. Thus, enabling the next generation of metrology-grade visual guidance in applications within various industries.
Top industries in manufacturing can benefit from this solution and this integrated workflow. Operators can ensure precise rework of high-value parts by comparing scan data with CAD models and projecting necessary information back onto the part. The Creaform 3D scanner, aligned with the Virtek Vision laser projector, displays critical information for accurate parts installation. This solution also perfects the setup of large castings or forgings on CNC machines by projecting alignment markers, reducing setup time.
Additionally, Virtek’s innovative AI technology is designed to support the evolving needs of aerospace and composite manufacturers, enhancing accuracy, adaptability, and efficiency across production processes. “Our customers are constantly increasing their quality standards and digitization levels. They are requiring flexible, easy to use and exceptionally reliable solutions,” said Dietmar Wennemer, DV President of Virtek Vision. “Our technology empowers them with the precision they need. The combined technologies create a new level of quality control, digitization, and continuous process improvements that are unique in the market. For the last four decades we continue to exceed our customer expectations in everything we do.” Wennemer continued.
Visitors to JEC 2025 are invited to experience live demonstrations of Virtek’s revolutionary AI-driven inspection solutions, plus will see the exciting new developments with the extension of the IRIS 3D platform, the integration of scanning technology from Creaform.OS. The VIrtek team is excited to welcome you to Hall 5, Stand #K14. This is a unique opportunity to see how Virtek’s solutions are transforming the future of composite inspection and bringing next level quality control optimization to manufacturing.
